April 25th is International Noise Awareness Day

April 25th 2018 is International Noise Awareness Day. On International Noise Awareness Day, people are encouraged to do something about bothersome noise where they work, live and play.
International Noise Awareness Day is a global campaign to increase awareness of noise and how it affects our life and health.
Noise can cause hearing loss.
There is a strong connection between excessive noise and hearing loss. Exposure to noise and high sound levels can result in a noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and tinnitus.
According to the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC), activities to raise awareness of excessive noise, how it affects us and how to reduce noise pollution have been organized on this day in several countries all over the world, such as in the United States of America, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Italy, Spain and Latvia. In recent years, there have been related events initiated in Australia and Asia, including Singapore.
Founded by Center for Hearing and Communication
International Noise Awareness Day was founded in 1996 by the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC), in the US. The aim is to raise awareness of noise on the welfare and health of people. The day is commemorated on the last Wednesday of April of every year.
