Blaring of horns banned

Noise pollution is a drag for the population of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The police is enforcing a ban on blaring horns in an attempt to lower the traffic noise level.

The Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has banned unnecessary honking of horns. Infractions draw fines and legal action. The ban was instituted to help the residents in this extremely noisy city.

”There are no noise barriers and it is very noisy. Even on nice days we cannot open the window because of the dust and noise, and when the window is closed we still hear the sound”, explained a 30 year-old house wife from Dhaka.
