Healthcare stakeholders: Make a sound investment – treat and prevent hearing loss
Every Euro spent on hearing rehabilitation results in a public saving of 10 Euros.

On March 1st, hearing healthcare stakeholders met in the European Parliament on the occasion of WHO’s World Hearing Day, March 3rd.
The healthcare stakeholders at the meeting supported the message from the WHO to make a sound investment by treating and preventing hearing loss.

The event was supported by these speakers:
- Dr Shelly Chadha, WHO
- Mel Gregory, The Ear Foundation in the UK
- Laurence Hartmann, socio-economist, Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, Paris
- Vice president Lidia Best, European Federation of Hard of Hearing people (EFHOH)
- President Mark Laureyns, European Association of Hearing Care Professionals (AEA)
The meeting was concluded by MEP Roberta Metsola, who reflected on the message: Every Euro spent on hearing rehabilitation results in a public saving of 10 Euros.
MEP Roberta Metsola urged everyone involved to apply more pressure on EU institutions and – not least – national governments and Health Ministers to treat and prevent hearing loss, and thereby make a sound investment.
