German concert promoter fined
A German court agreed with a woman that excessively loud music at a Bon Jovi concert in September, 2000, was the cause of her subsequent tinnitus and hearing loss.
The court ruled in December, 2004, that the concert promoter must pay US$5,300 in compensation to the woman for pain and suffering, in addition to covering her cost of treatment and loss of income.
The court found the concert promoter negligent for failing to take measures necessary to lower the noise levels during the show.
The promoter still has time to appeal the verdict.
