Hailing a cab made easy

A Norwegian cab company lets you order your taxi with a simple text message on your mobile phone.

Many hearing impaired people find it hard to call and order a cab by phone. But now a Norwegian cab company has introduced a service that lets you order your cab by sending a text message on your mobile phone. This eliminates most misunderstandings and miscommunications caused by the caller's hearing loss.

The text message is automatically answered by a text message from the cab company with a receipt and a reference number showing that a cab is on the way.

The offer is good in the capital, Oslo, and in a number of Norway's other cities. The service is available from the vast majority of recent mobile phone models. All you need to do is download a small programme on your mobile phone.
