Hearing earplugs

New types of earplugs protect the ears against noise while allowing hearing and communicating normally with others. The modern earplug protects the hearing of the Norwegian defense.

The most recent types of earplugs which may some day replace the traditional hearing protection looks at first glance, like a regular earplug. But on the inside, two small tubes are connected to a small speaker and a microphone allowing a person to hear and speak without removing the plugs.

An electronic box in the room filters the sounds and controls which part of the signals will reach the ear for the person to hear.

Development of the new type of earplugs is being funded by the Norwegian and the Swedish defense departments. The first batch was ordered by the Norwegian defense.
