The 2003 International Noise Awareness Day will be held on Wednesday, the 30th of April, 2003.
We are continually subjected to noise throughout our lives. Noise is everywhere - at work, in the streets, in school, at play and at home. When it becomes constant and never ending, it may also be detrimental to our health.
A continuous exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels can be harmful not only to your hearing, but also lead to physiological changes in blood pressure, sleep, digestion and other stress-related disorders.
This is why the sponsor of the International Noise Awareness Day, the American League for the Hard of Hearing, makes an effort to inform the public of the necessity of creating a quiet home, school and recreational environment.
The International Noise Awareness Day on Wednesday, April 30, 2003, will be marked by events around the world in 43 countries to bring attention to the noise that surrounds our daily life and affects our well-being and our health.
Contact your local hearing organization for more information on the International Noise Awareness Day events in your country.
