If you have a hearing loss and you think that your hearing has worsened (progressive hearing loss), you should see your hearing health care professional and ask for a new hearing test. Tell them why you suspect that your hearing has become worse and in which situations you experience that it might have worsened.
It could be that your hearing aids just needs to be adjusted. Like our vision, our hearing changes gradually over time (and normally gets worse). In general, the fact is that the older we get, the more we will experience hearing problems. For most people, their hearing deteriorates as they get older (age-related hearing loss).
In some cases, your level of hearing may have fallen so much that your present hearing aids no longer help you as much as they should. In this case, you have to look at more powerful models.
New hearing aids?
If your hearing aids are old, they may have to be replaced. Like all other things, hearing aids don’t last forever. Your hearing health care professional can tell if your hearing aids are so old that they need to be replaced.
In any of the above cases, a hearing health care professional is the right person to help you.
