Patients in a number of European countries are invited to nominate their hearing practitioner and describe the difference they have made to their lives. The award highlights and celebrates audiologists in both the public and private sector settings who have provided exceptional, often life-changing, care for their patients.
The competition will close on 1st July 2019 and is open to entries from the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.
Talent and dedication
The annual competition, now in its twelfth year, is organised by private companies within the hearing industry, the European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA) and the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH).
General Secretary of EHIMA, Dr Stefan Zimmer, said: “The competition is an opportunity to showcase the exceptional talent and dedication that exists on an individual, national level, as well as Europe-wide amongst audiology professionals.”
Individual country winners, chosen by an independent panel of industry professionals, will be announced in September this year. These will then compete for the coveted title of Audiologist of the Year which will be awarded in October at the EUHA convention in Nuremberg, Germany.
The winner of the 2018 Audiologist of the Year competition was Benjamin Schadow from Erfurt in Germany.
